Kayaköy Ghost Town

Now here’s a really fascinating discovery - apparently there is a ghost town, now preserved as an open museum, near Olu Deniz.

It looks quite remarkable:

According to the Wikipedia, it became deserted after a population exchange in 1923, I presume from hostilities after World War 1.

Apparently the village was built from around 1700, so not a really ancient site, but definitely something I’ll be adding to my visitor list.

In the meantime, here’s a link on Google Images to more scenes of Kayakoy - and here’s some on Flickr.
