Lindos Hotels
I’ve been keeping an eye out for going to Lindos in Rhodes at some point soon.
The big question has been which hotel to stay at, and understanding the situation with regards to hotels has been a challenge.
However, what appears to be the case is that because of the planning restrictions in Lindos itself, any hotel directly within the town will be limited in some way - no huge resort pools, if any pool at all. And lots of walking up and down steps to get where you want - including the beach.
Which isn’t a problem if you’re an adult, but as a young family travelling I’m just not prepared to spend thousands of pounds just for the privilege of staying in a town, no matter how picturesque, if we means we have very limited facilities. The cost does not justify it.
Therefore it seems the alternative options are to stay in one of the larger hotels outside of the town, and accept that you will need to use a shuttlebus/bus/taxi to travel around (else a hire car). Which seems the less evil when looking for a fully-inclusive holiday.
That seems to put the choice of hotels between two main options: Lindos Mare and Lindos Memories, both of which appear very well regarded, and provide at least the four-star all-inclusive experience I would want.
Of course, there are other hotels in Lindos to consider for options, but my own research points to the above as best candidates for ourselves.
ALSO: We will be travelling in October this year, and after asking the TravelAdvisor community, Rhodes in October does not sound like the ideal place to be, with the danger of heavy rain being common through the month.
All in all, Rhodes sounds very much like a summer destination, but you can find out more information on weather averages for Rhodes here.
There’s also a nice website providing more detailed information in holidaying in Lindos here.
Overall, Rhodes - especially Lindos - continues to look attractive, but considering the costs involved in going on holoiday there, I think further research is required - not least as to whether Lindos is somewhere better to visit than stay.
