Lindos

Rhodes is one of the first places that has been on my list for the next holiday, and Lindos looks like a main contender.

While I’ve been looking at Turkey, especially Olu Deniz, the beaches on Rhodes look more child-friendly, ie, less of a drop into the deep.

Additionally, Rhodes could be a great place to practice travelling from the resort, with plenty to see on the island. This is not least because of the rich historical past of the region, such as Roman, Byzantine, Islam and Crusader works on the island.

You can see images of a couple of the beaches here - Lindos beach and then St Paul’s Bay:

The only concern is that Lindos - even Rhodes - may feel small and over-crowded, at least in terms of the beaches. Also, as the town of Lindos is on a hillside, how much of a danger of falling is there for young children? There’s also the point that lots of people have their weddings there, which can crowd the hotels and receptions.

Still, the rich history means that it’s on the list, I’m just left feeling that perhaps Lindos isn’t going to be so geared towards the children.

More on Lindos at Thomson.
